UCL Technology Fund Showcase 2018

The inaugural UCL Technology Fund Showcase, held at Digital Catapult, brought together two years of investing in world-leading and world-changing UCL technologies and innovations.

Despite the tempting sunshine outside, the event was oversubscribed and there was standing room only in the auditorium. The aim of the event was to showcase just a small selection of the projects which have already received investment from the fund and for the teams to share their journeys with academics from UCL and other universities, investors and journalists. Each of the teams also had a small stand in the atrium to engage with interested parties.

The fund is managed through a collaboration between Albion Capital and UCLB and both teams were in celebratory mode as the presentations commenced. The event was split into a session for the Life Sciences projects followed by the Physical Science teams, with networking topping and tailing the afternoon and refreshments between the two sessions. The Digital Catapult was an excellent venue, the food was superb and the fridge was well stacked with cold drinks – so closing the event proved a little tricky. However, as the sun went down over the Euston Rd. the usual suspects retired to the ever popular Somers Town Coffee House to continue their discussions long into the night.
